Labyrinth Project

Labyrinths have been part of spiritual practice for nearly 3,000 years, offering a sacred space for reflection, prayer, and renewal. While not specifically mentioned in the Bible, the labyrinth can serve as a meaningful symbol of our walk with God—following God’s path, becoming aware of God’s presence, and growing in faith along the journey. This coming year, St. Philip’s is excited to begin creating a labyrinth for our church community—a place where all are welcome to pause, pray, and reconnect. This will be a shared journey, built not just for the community, but with the community. The project will unfold in three stages: Stage One: Selecting the location and design. The vestry is currently exploring possible footprints and will present three options for the congregation to prayerfully consider and vote on. Stage Two: Mapping the labyrinth on the ground using lime or chalk, giving us the opportunity to walk it, experience it, and ensure it feels right for our space and spirit. Stage Three: Creating a permanent labyrinth with brick and gravel, along with benches and accessible features to make it a welcoming place for rest, reflection, and peace for all.
This is more than a building project—it is an invitation to deepen our connection with one another and with God. There will be opportunities for hands-on involvement, shared decision-making, and community gatherings throughout each stage. We invite you to be part of this journey. Watch for updates, prayerfully consider how you might participate, and join us as we create a sacred space for generations to come.
