Instructions for Performing Website Tasks
Putting up the Weekly Bulletin
- Upload the PDF. Log into the dashboard (https://stphilips-hearne.org/wp-admin/), click on “Media” on the sidebar, click on “Add New.” Click “Select Files,” choose the PDF and click “Open.” The file will be uploaded, and you can see it in the media items below the upload area–it should now be the first one. Click on it, and on the Attachment Details page that pops up, copy the link in the “Copy Link” box. Close the Attachment Details pop-up.
- Edit the Home page. Click on “Pages” on the left sidebar. Click on “Home” listed on the right list of pages. Click the “Edit with Elementor” button. Scroll down to the “Online Morning Prayer” section under “Coming to Church.” Click on the sentence that reads “Here is a PDF for the Service of Morning Prayer.” Highlight the text that reads “Service of Morning Prayer”–a dark toolbar should pop-up. Click the icon that looks like a chain link. Paste the link you copied from the first step into the box that appears, and hit “Enter.” Finally, click the green “UPDATE” button on the bottom left of the screen.
Making Changes to the Google Calendar
The Google Calendar is owned by the email@example.com Google Account. You’ll need to log in as this user (the password is the same as the admin password for this site), and then go to calendar.google.com.
Making an “Updates” Post
To make a post that will show up on the “Updates” page (and also on the home page under “Updates”), log into the WordPress dashboard (/wp-admin/), go to “Posts,” click “Add New,” and on the right sidebar, make sure “Document” is selected at the top, go to “Categories,” and make sure “Blog” is selected. Once you’ve done that, simply edit the post (give it a title and some contents), and click the blue “Publish…” button at the top right.
